Arching over time, the current director of the Golden Stag Festival is Smaranda Vornicu Shalit, the daughter of the famous TV producer Tudor Vornicu, who managed the first edition of the prestigious event, in 1968.

"I grew up surrounded by the nostalgia of those who participated as television people, artists and spectators or viewers in the 1968 - 1971 festival editions. I was delighted when this prestigious musical tradition was resumed by TVR in 1992, musicians of worldwide fame performed on the stage in Piata Sfatului and this brand was reborn to public acclaim.

2018 is the year in which we celebrate Romania’s Centenary and, in a beautiful coincidence, it is also the 50th anniversary of the first edition of the “Cerbul de Aur” International Festival. We wish for the prestige of this legendary Stag, the beauties and traditions of Brasov, the work of the TVR team and the talent of Romanian and international artists who will be part of the festival to bring joy to everyone - this year and for many years to come.
