Renate Grad, born on November 11, 1987 in Vișeu de Sus, Maramureş, is a graduate of Canto section from Bucharest National University of Music.
Since high school, she has been remarked as a soloist of the Musical Theater in Baia Mare. After receiving important awards at competitions and festivals such as Chants, Sons sur Scene (francophone music festival) and Mamaia, Renate continued her musical studies in Bucharest.
She has performed concerts of classical and pop music at Râmnicu Vâlcea (Mozart concert), Craiova (Opera Day), Braşov (many classical concerts), Budapest (classical concert at the Romanian Cultural Institute), Vienna, Nurenberg (Christmas concert at the Romanian Cultural Institute).
Although she studied classical music, Renate has always enjoyed pop, musical and jazz genres. She is currently a canto teacher, but gives also piano and guitar lessons. In parallel, she is the lead vocal of a cover band, having various flash mob, opera, music, musical and jazz concerts. The most recent show she attended is The Voice Romania, where she reached the semifinal, in 2018.

1. How and when did you discover your passion for music?
When I was 5 and listened to music with my mother, I started to hum all the songs I heard on radio and TV.
2. Define your musical style in one phrase.
Because I had classical canto lessons, but I also love pop, jazz and rock, I always combined genres, sliding smoothly from the classical rigor to the jazzy lightness and playfulness and the powerful rock sound.
3. Favorite musicians.
Ana Netrebko, Whitney Houston, Sam Smith, Bon Jovi, Tina Turner, Scorpions.
4. What do you prefer to read / eat/do in your spare time.
I read mostly personal development books, I adore sweets but I try to abstain, and I paint in my spare time.
5. If not a singer, then you would be a ...
I would like to expand my passion on painting.
6. How do you define happiness?
I find my happiness in simple things: smiles, music and love.
7. Your motto for this Festival.
They say that music is the most powerful magic, and it happens every year at the Golden Stag festival.
