Crina Mardare, Cătălin Cățoiu, radio programme makers, Felix Crainicu (Radio Romania), Oliver Simionescu – DJ Olix (Kiss FM), Andreea Remețan (Virgin Radio), Liana Stanciu, journalist TVR and Gabriel Scîrlet, musical director in TVR, are the jury members of this year’s selection for the Golden Stag international interpretation festival.
On Thursday, July 11th, the names of the 12 artists qualified within the contest will be revealed.
Only 12 artists, out of the 71 registered, will climb the stage of the Festival, and the selection jury will chose, in the next few days the names of the ones we will see and hear within the Brasov contest.
„I am glad that the Golden Stag Festival has reconfirmed its status as a traditional international event .Artists from 21 countries have entered the selection session, and the jury has a very difficult task since only 12 artists will fight for the Grand Trophy and for the other awards of the contest, in a total amount of more than 55.000 Euro. On Thursday, July 11th, in the end of the judging session, we will meet them”, has declared Smaranda Vornicu-Shalit, the director of the festival.
The selection jury:
Having a long career both in Romjania and abroad, where she had concerts in Netherlands, Denmark or Germany, Crina Mardare was part of bands such as Sfinx Experience or Stereo. Vocal coach at her own music school, Crina Mardare has judged the semi-finalists of Eurovision Romania 2018, and this year she is coming back, this time as a jury member in TVR’s brand project - Golden Stag Festival.
Cătălin Cățoiu has met the success on Romanian stages as member of VH2 band, together with legends of the Romanian music: Gabriel Cotabiță and Mihai Pocorschi. Cătălin – he has a vast experience within the entertainment industry, being a producer („Fetele lu’ dom’ Profesor”- The Teacher’s girls”, „Liber ca pasărea cerului – Free as a bird”, „The Wanderers”), actor („Îngerașii” - Angels, „Aniela”, „Pariu cu viața – A bet with life”) or a video producers for stars such as: Loredana, Laura Stoica or Silvia Dumitrescu. For the vide of the song „Lumea mea – My world”, performed by Silvia Dumitrescu, he was awarded at the Golden Stag Festival– at the edition from 1997, winning the first place for this section.
Felix Crainicu is a theatre director (with numerous shows staged in Romania), writer, and founder of the Oportunidad theatre and dance school. Having a 25 years experience in the theatre field, Felix Crainicu is making at present several musical programmes at Radio Romania Actualităţi – „Muzica de top – Top music“, „Muzică şi radio - Music and radio“, „Music collection – the success of Romanian music“.
Liana Stanciu is one of the first radio producer after1989 and is part of TVR team of more than 10 years where she makes entertainment and cultural programmes. Liana Stanciu has a vast experience in the Romanian media and plays an active role within several ONG’s.
Gabriel Scîrlet has graduated the National University of Music, in Bucharest, at composition section. Starting with 2006 he is a musical director at Romanian Television, where he managed the musical direction for numerous musical contests: Eurovision, Golden Stag, George Enescu contest, Eurovision Junior, Mamaia Copiilor. Record releases: Jon Lord live (EMI London), Moscow Philharmonic (Sony Austria), George Enescu Philharmonic, Hope Concert.
Oliver Simionescu, or DJ Olix, as he is known by Kiss FM, is part of the radio station team for more than 12 years and plays music in events such as Neversea, ColorRun or Untold. „Partydul KissFm“and „Kiss Kiss in the mix“are only two of the programmes which have made him known at the radio. When he is not at Kiss FM desk, DJ Olix is filming, is testing and is pressing buttons, having a great passion for all that has to do with electronic equipments, gadgets and devices.
Andreea Remețan, a radio personality with an experience of more than 14 years, makes programmes for Virgin Radio and is a content creator on www.RemeStie.ro and on instagrammer.
The 2019 edition of the Festival will take place in the period 22 – 25 August, in Braşov, and will bring together famous artists on the stage from Piața Sfatului Square. The public will see the performances of the stars invited to the event and also the 12 finalists of the international interpretation contest, who will sing and will compete in order to get one of the awards. The total amount of all the awards is more than 55 thousand Euro.
For this year’s finalists, TVR has prepared a format with 2 days of contest, an award Ceremony and other related events.
In the end of the show we will have the chance to see a folk show which will reunite the Romanian traditional folk music and a modern mix of this musical genre
The event will be broadcast live and exclusively by Romanian Television.

The Golden Stag International Festival had its debut in 1968 and had 18 editions. The last edition has been organised in 2018 and celebrated 50 years from its debut. The event has become the greatest International Music Festival in Romania, being traditionally organised in Brașov city.
